Reports have been received that Madeira flag vessel AVILA (9,935gt, built 2007) suffered a shift of container stow earlier today, with some containers lost overboard.
The containership is proceeding to the port of Gijon as a port of refuge where damage to the vessel will be investigated and containers re-stowed.
AVILA was reported to have been destined for Leixoes and generally trades between ports in the western Mediterranean and the Atlantic coast of Spain, having sailed from Bilbao yesterday.
