Reports have been received that the Greek flag tanker SOUNION (built 2006, 85,206gt) is now on fire in the Red Sea.
The vessel had been abandoned by its crew on Thursday this week following an attack, and it is expected that the fire was started by Houthi rebels.
Although the vessel was anchored before the crew left, we now understand that the vessel is adrift.
SOUNION had sailed from Basrah oil terminal on 13 August 2024.
