Reports have been received that reefer vessel WILD COSMOS (9,859gt, built 1998) was in collision with general cargo vessel HELGE (2,911gt, built 2013) off Denmark earlier today.
A major and very extensive SAR operation was immediately launched by the Danish and Norwegian Authorities. All seven crew members of the HELGE have been rescued by helicopters and flown safely to hospital in Esbjerg.
The weather in the area was reported to be strong gales from an easterly direction, with a strong northerly current and approximately two-metre-high waves.
Unlike HELGE, WILD COSMOS was able to continue its voyage.
