Date: 13 February 2022   Type: Fire   Voyage: Germany to USA

Reports have been received that Panamanian flag vessel FELICITY ACE (60,118gt, built 2005) suffered a fire on one of its cargo decks yesterday whilst sailing southwest of Azores.

The vessel, a vehicle carrier, sent a distress signal and a navy patrol vessel NRP Setubal, the Air Force, and four merchant vessels were involved in the rescue operation.

The crew of 22 has now been taken off the vessel and brought ashore. No injuries were reported.

The vessel’s owners are making arrangements to have FELICITY ACE towed into a port of refuge.

As well as damage to the cargo, it is possible that claims for salvage and general average will arise as a result of this incident.

FELICITY ACE is on a voyage from Germany to the US. The vessel sailed Emdeon on 10 February 2022 destined originally for Davisville.
