Second Casualty Report
The owners of containership ARCHIMIDIS have now signed an LOF salvage contract with professional salvors Five Oceans Salvage.
Before the cargo can be delivered, cargo insurers will be expected to provide salvage security. It is also likely that general average will be declared.
Initial Casualty Report
Reports have been received that Liberian flag vessel ARCHIMIDIS (89,776gt built 2006) went adrift off the Mexican coast around 03 November 2021.
The container vessel, enroute to the Panama Canal, was adrift for 12 days. The vessel has now been taken in tow by tug MEXTUG DUERO, sent from Lazaro Cardenas.
Before this incident, ARCHIMIDIS had sailed from Busan on 17 October. Prior to this the vessel had called at Yangshan, Yantian and Xiamen. ARCHIMIDIS is destined for Savannah, Norfolk and New York on the US east coast.
