Reports have been received that Panamanian flag vessel RISE SHINE (4,450gt, built 2000) ran aground off Nakhodka, Russia, earlier today.
The vessel has broken in half in bad weather. Efforts are being made to rescue the crew with tugs and a helicopter being sent to the scene. Heavy seas are making the operation more difficult but at least nine crew members have been lifted off so far.
RISE SHINE’s last reported port of call was Ningbo from where the vessel sailed on 11 October 2021. No pollution has been reported as of now.
