Reports have been received that Indonesian flag vessel NEW GLOBAL (5,280gt, built 2019) was in collision with Indonesian flag vessel KM MAJU 9 off the Aru Islands on 29 October 2021.
As a result of the accident, KM MAJU 9 sank. Twenty-eight of the crew members were rescued by NEW GLOBAL but four remain missing. Search and rescue operations are underway.
