Reports have been received that Bahamas flag vessel DOLE COLOMBIA (31,779gt, built 1999) suffered a fire on board yesterday shortly after sailing from Wilmington.
The USCG were notified at the vessel returned to the berth. The fire was reportedly in the engine room but no injuries were reported.
Prior to calling at Wilmington the vessel had called at ports in Honduras and Costa Rica. DOLE COLOMBIA was destined for Santa Marta, Colombia, at the time of the incident.
