Reports have been received that Madeiran flag vessel NORTHERN JUBILEE (94,419gt, built 2009) experienced a fire in its engine room on Friday last week.
No injuries were reported and the fire was extinguished by injecting carbon dioxide into the engine room. However, the vessel had to be towed to King Abdullah Port, Saudi Arabia, where it berthed 21 December 2020.
All cargo is being discharged from the vessel at this port. Power to the vessel is being provided by the emergency generator.
Prior to this incident NORTHERN JUBILEE had sailed from Freeport, Bahamas on 4 December 2020. Previously the vessel called at Portsmouth, Savannah and New York.
