Reports have been received that Singapore flag vessel KOTA BAHAGIA (18,189gt, built 2011) suffered an explosion on board at Napier, New Zealand earlier today.
The vessel is reportedly carrying general cargo, machinery and components. The fire started after an explosion occurred on board the ship and the crew were forced to evacuate. No injuries have been reported.
Prior to arrival in New Zealand, the vessel had sailed from Taicang on 28 November 2020. Before this the vessel called at Dalian and Xingang.
