Reports have been received that Singapore flag vessel BW RHINE (43,797gt, built 2008) suffered an explosion on board at Jeddah earlier today.
No injuries have been reported after the fire was extinguished.
It is understood that the explosion occurred when the vessel was struck by an object from outside the vessel. It is not yet clear whether this was a deliberate attack on BW RHINE, although there are reports that a mine may have been detonated.
