Reports have been received that Bahamas flag vessel MOL CHARISMA (86,692gt, built 2007) experienced a fire in number five cargo hold on 1 September 2020.
At the time of the incident the container ship was 250 miles to the east of Sri Lanka heading from Port Klang to Nhava Sheva.
Reportedly the vessel’s crew brought the fire under control and MSC CHARISMA has been diverted to Colombo for an inspections. No injuries or pollution have been reported.
Prior to Port Klang the vessel had called at Singapore, ports in China, Taiwan and South Korea.
