Reports have been received that Liberian flag vessel E.R. KOBE (66,058gt, built 2001) suffered a fire on board on 14 February 2019.

The vessel’s crew reported a fire in containers stowed on deck in bay 30 whilst on passage from India to Shanghai and other ports.

The fire was successfully extinguished with the assistance of the services of professional Salvors and the use of a firefighting tug.

The vessel deviated to Hong Kong as port of refuge and emergency assistance was provided. The fire then reignited on 24th February when the vessel was approaching Shanghai and additional salvage services and firefighting were provided.

E.R. KOBE will shortly be allowed to discharge cargo at Shanghai and then proceed to continue her voyage. Some cargo is damaged.
