Reports have been received that Panamanian flag vessel EVER JUDGER (44,060gt, built 2014) caught fire in the Bay of Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, Indonesia, following a diesel oil spill earlier today.
Dark black smoke soared tens of metres in the sky over Balikpapan City. Two people are reported to have lost their lives. Other casualties are expected.
The vessel is understood to be carrying a cargo of coal.
