Reports have been received that Panamanian flag vessel SANCHI (85,462gt, built 2008) was involved in a major collision with Hong Kong flag vessel CF CRYSTAL (41,073gt, built 2011) yesterday 160 miles east of the mouth of the Yangtze River.
A fire broke out on board SANCHI and she took on a list to starboard. The vessel’s crew of 32 was reported as missing. SANCHI has on board a cargo of 136,000mt fuel destined for South Korea.
The crew of CF CRYSTAL was reported as rescued. CF CRYSTAL is a bulk carrier and is understood to be carrying a cargo of 64,000mt of grain from US to China.
Various rescue and emergency craft are understood to be attending the scene of the accident.
