Bahamas flag vessel EVANGELIA L (36,381gt, built 2015) is currently under tow towards Honolulu following main engine failure.
The towage is being carried out on a Lloyd’s Open Form salvage contract by Five Oceans Salvage.
It is anticipated that the vessel will be repaired at Honolulu before continuing her voyage.
EVANGELIA L is carrying a cargo of nickel ore from Santo Thomas De Castilla, Guatemala. The cargo is destined for Caofeidian in China.
Before the cargo can be delivered, cargo insurers will be asked to provide salvage security. It is also likely that general average will be declared.
