Reports have been received that Chinese flag vessel HONG YUAN 02 (23,734gt, built 1997) ran aground north of Zhoushan on 16th December 2016.
The container vessel was holed in her bow area with ensuing water ingress, was down by the head and developed a starboard list.
The vessel has on board 932 containers. Salvage is under way and by this morning part of the cargo had been offloaded to barges.
HONG YUAN 02 trades between ports in China. She is currently on a voyage from Tangshan to Humen.
