Date: July 2016 Type: Grounding Voyage: Canada to West Africa
Reports have been received that Marshall Islands flag vessel IDEEFIXE (36,286gt, built 2015) is aground off Douala.
The bulker is on a voyage to ports in West Africa from Canada carrying a cargo of grain. She sailed from Comeau, Canada, in the first week of June.
Professional salvors Smit Salvage have been engaged on an LOF contract to refloat the vessel.
Before the cargo can be delivered salvage security will need to be provided by or on behalf of the cargo owners. It is also likely that general average will be declared.
