Reports have been received that Hong Kong flag vessel OCEAN CARRIER (33,456gt, built 2012) ran aground yesterday in the Singapore Strait off Belakang Padang.
Patrol vessels are in attendance. The vessel is on a voyage from Bandar Abbas to Yangjiang with a cargo of iron ore.
Reportedly OCEAN CARRIER grounded after taking action to avoid other vessels in the area.
It is possible that claims for General Average and Salvage will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel.
