Reports have been received that Panamanian flag vessel HANJIN AQUA (51,032gt, built 2013) ran aground on 4th December 2015 off Sangiang Island, Indonesia.
There are no reported injuries. But the vessel’s hull is understood to have been breached and the local coast guard is in attendance. The vessel remains aground.
HANJIN AQUA is on a voyage from Adelaide to Jakarta. She will also be carrying cargoes to and from ports in other parts of the world.
This incident potentially gives rise to claims of salvage and general average.
