Reports have been received that Netherlands flag vessel FLEVOBORG (8,911gt, built 2010) experienced a fire on board today at the Port of Tyne after the vessel’s cargo of wood pellets overheated.
Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene. A fire boat and forty-three fire fighters assisted in the operation.
100 tonnes of the wooden pellets have been unloaded from the ship.
