Reports have been received that Korean flag vessel MERRY STAR (3,997gt, built 1996) ran aground in shallow waters off Shikanoshima, Fukuoka, Japan on 11th August.
Reportedly, oil was spilled as a result of the vessel grounding and a clean up operation is being carried out.
MERRY STAR operates between ports in Japan and South Korea. She had sailed from Hakata on 11th August 2015. She is likely to be carrying cargoes to and from other countries as well.
