Reports have been received that Marshall Islands flag vessel PURPLE BEACH (23,401gt, built 1998) suffered a fire on board today in the Weser Estuary.
The fire originated in a cargo hold. The vessel is carrying fertilizer. Reportedly the crew were evacuated by helicopter and the hold was to be flooded.
