Reports have been received that Hong Kong flag vessel MING YUAN (19998gt built2010) ran aground today after experiencing problems with her engine.
A search and rescue vessel is currently assisting MING YUAN. The incident took place in a marine preserve in Malaspascua, Cebu.
The vessel’s last reported call was Taipei. But she sailed from there over one month ago on 12 May 2013.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
