Reports have been received that Maldives flag vessel ASIAN EXPRESS (5,955gt built 1977) sank today after developing a crack in her hull.
The vessel’s crew of 22 was rescued by Indian Navy and Coast Guard vessels. ASIAN EXPRESS was on a voyage from Port Muhammad Bin Qasim to Maldives carting cement and sand.
