Reports have been received that Togo flag vessel TOULON (5983gt built1978) has experienced major water ingress into her engine room off Istanbul today.
The Vessel is carrying 8,546mt of wheat for discharge at Benghazi. Safety tugs, fast rescue boats and technical teams have instructed to provide assistance at the incidence.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
