Reports have been received that Malaysian flag vessel PWP 1 (7591gt built 1982) lost power due to an engine failure near the Port of Sanya.
A Salvage tug was dispatched immediately after receiving a distress signal from PWP 1. The Casualty and tug arrived at Sanya on January 6th.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
