Reports have been received that Antigua & Barbuda flag vessel EMS (3995gt built 2005) experienced engine problems yesterday on her voyage from Vierow to Newport.
The crew received spares and attempted to repair the engine. However we now understand that the vessel is under tow for Emden as a port of refuge. The vessel is carrying wheat.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
