Reports have been received that St Vincent flag vessel MINY YANG (12703gt built 1981) suffered a fire on board yesterday whilst off Japan.
The Coast Guard sent vessels to the scene and the crew of 64 on board has been rescued. The ship is still off Heianza, Japan.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
