Reports have been received that Hong Kong flag vessel NEW LUCKY III (4724gt built 2000) has suffered a cargo shift off Taiwan.
Most of the vessel’s crew have been rescued but the Master is reported missing. The vessel has developed a serious list and is a danger to shipping.
NEW LUCKY III is carrying a cargo of logs to China. She is last reported sailing from Taiwan on 22 August 2012.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
