Reports have been received that Hong Kong flag vessel GREAT MIND (40,000gt built 2011) has run aground this morning off Masinloc.
The vessel is carrying a cargo of coal for Masinloc power plant. She had sailed from Port Klang on 5th August 2012.
Malayan Towage and Salvage have been contracted to refloat the vessel. Three tugs are currently in attendance at the scene of the casualty.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
