Reports have been received that Russian flag vessel SESTRORETSK (3415gt built 1980) has run aground on the Volga River near Gerasimovka, Russia. The vessel is on a voyage from Turkey.
The vessel attempted to refloat using its own power but was unsuccessful. No Injuries or pollution have been reported due to the grounding.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
