Reports have been received that Greek flag vessel SAMJOHN LIBERTY (38846gt built 1998) has run aground on the River Parana in Argentina.
The vessel is currently blocking the navigation channel and is awaiting Tsavliris Salvage to attempt refloating. SAMJOHN LIBERTY is carrying a cargo of soybeans and grain
It is likely that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
