Reports have been received that Russian flag vessel IRINA (3,172gt built 1982) has suffered sea water ingress and is adrift in the North Pacific.
The vessel’s crew have been rescued by helicopter. We understand that a rescue vessel ATLAS is proceeding and is due in the area tomorrow.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
