Reports have been received that Cambodian flag vessel CHANG DA 12 (4,021gt built 1974) ran aground off Barangay Abagtanen on 19th December.
The vessel is carrying a cargo of 6000mt coal from Indonesia to China. Professional Salvors have been engaged.
We understand that several faults have been found with the vessel both with respect to physical condition and certification.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
