Reports have been received that Singapore flag vessel MORNINGCEDAR (50,681gt built 1982) has suffered a rudder failure and is drifting off Tanaga Island.
We understand that the vessel has requested assistance. According to the Coast Guard, the rudder is stuck hard to starboard.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
