Reports have been received that Panama flag vessel VENUS N (24,609gt built 1984) was recently towed into Durban following engine problems.
The vessel had on board a cargo of rice. The towage was arranged on an LOF contract which means that the cargo insurers will be required to provide salvage security.
Such salvage security is required from a UK based guarantor on terms acceptable to the Council of Lloyd’s.
We can, if required, provide salvage security on your behalf (subject to internal procedures) for a bail fee from 0.75% of the guarantee amount.
As well as the salvage claim, it is also likely that general average will be declared.
