Reports have been received that Antiguan flag vessel KARIN SCHEPERS (7852gt built 2007) has run aground off St Just today.
A rescue helicopter has been sent to the scene. KARIN SCHEPERS operates between UK, Ireland and Netherlands but will be carrying cargoes for a variety of other destinations.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
