Reports have been received that Marshall Islands flag vessel AL RAWDAH (75,579gt built 2008) has run aground off Batam.
The containership is being assisted by Salvors Smit Singapore Pte Ltd on Lloyd’s Open Form terms. The vessel is still aground as of today.
AL RAWDAH trades between ports in Europe, Middle East and Far East but she is likely to have transhipment cargo for other parts of the world as well.
It is likely that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
