Reports have been received that Panama flag vessel DOUBLE PROSPERITY (39727gt built 2005) has run aground near Bakud Reef, Philippines.
The bulk carrier is en route from Australia to India with a cargo of coal. A salvage team from Malaysian Towage & Salvage Co are travelling to the scene and are expected tomorrow.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
