Reports have been received that Russian flag vessel MIKHAIL LUKONIN (4694gt built 1981) has been taken in tow following an engine breakdown.
The vessel, carrying scrap metal, encountered difficulties in heavy seas and is now being towed to safety by cargo vessel Pioner Kholmska.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
