Reports have been received that Liberian flag vessel GEMINI (30,807gt, built 2006) suffered a fire on board earlier this month whilst at the port of Sokhna, Egypt.
As a result of the incident, the ship owners declared general average. Also, part of the cargo on the vessel has been damaged.
GEMINI is now in Turkey where cargoes are to be discharged. Cargo insurers are being asked to provide general average security.
