Reports have been received that Russian flag vessel AMUR 2521 (3086gt built 1987) required tug assistance following engine problems on the Maas last week.
The general cargo vessel, which sailed from Rotterdam 26th April 2011, was assisted by tugs Smit Rusland, Fairplay 24 and RPA 16. The casualty has been returned to Rotterdam.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
