  • Second Report ************

Reference is made to our first report below. If you are insurers of cargo on board then we look forward to receiving your instructions.

The damaged cargo is at Tema. We represent insurers part of the cargo on board. We have surveyor in attendance to investigate the losses.

  • Initial Report ************

Reports have been received that Liberian flag vessel KOTA MANIS (26131gt built 1998) suffered a fire on board earlier this month off the coast of Ghana.

We understand that one of the vessel’s cargo holds has been flooded in an effort to bring the fire under control. Salvors have been engaged.

The owners of the casualty have declared General Average. Cargo insurers will be asked to provide average guarantees before the cargo can be delivered. It is also possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of any cargo that is rescued.

KOTA MANIS generally trades between ports in West Africa and the Far East although she is likely to have transhipment cargo on board for other areas of the world as well.
