Reports have been received that Kiribati flag vessel BOSSOIL 1 (4343gt built 2007) is to be towed into Guishan Island following machinery failure.
The chemical tanker, en route from Zhoushan to Singapore, requested emergency assistance on Saturday. The ship’s crew were rescued by the Guangzhou Salvage Bureau.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
