Reports have been received that St Vincent flag vessel REDWOOD (12582gt built 1978) caught fire at the port of Holmsund on Friday last week.
The vessel’s Russian crew were evacuated. REDWOOD had sailed from Szczecin on 12th January 2011.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
