Reports have been received that Malaysian flag vessel PUTERI ZAMRUD (86205gt built 1996) sustained engine trouble yesterday off Isabel Point, Palawan.
The gas carrier is on a voyage from Bintulu, Malaysia to Korea. We understand that the Philippine Coast Guard has ordered a vessel to assist, and another vessel has been sent by Singapore based Supply Oilfield Services.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
