Reports have been received that Hong Kong flag vessel CLEANTEC (20763gt built 2099) has been in collision today with German flag containership FRISIA ROTTERDAM (25406gt built 2004).
As a consequence of the collision off Denmark, CLEANTEC was damaged below the waterline and we understand she is being abandoned by her crew. She has a cargo of fertiliser on board.
Anti-pollution vessels are underway to the accident site. FRISIA ROTTERDAM is understood to have suffered only minor damage in the accident.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
