Reports have been received that Marshall Islands flag vessel GO PATORO (75765gt built 1991) is drifting with main engine problems near position lat 33 27.7S long 28 51.2E.
The bulk carrier is on a voyage from China and Singapore to Ponta do Ubu. We understand that salvage tug SMIT AMANDLA is proceeding to assist.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
