Reports have been received that Marshall Islands flag vessel BOUNDARY (10778gt built 1993) is currently on fire off the coast of South Africa.
We understand that fire fighting vessels are on the scene already. Further vessels are en route to the casualty in order to offer assistance.
BOUNDARY operates between ports in Angola, Namibia and South Africa. It is likely that she will be carrying transhipment cargo from and to other parts of the world.
If the ship can be saved, it is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of te cargo on board. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
